Rolly Sheep Development - Week of 22 April 2019

This Week

Open Testing

Rolly Sheep is now available on Android for open testing! Grab it on itch.io.

Localization

I added localization for around 10 languages. I took a look at a few websites to understand the biggest languages to cater for, and this is what we based our initial set of languages on. We're not entirely sure if some of these languages will be accurate, as we've had to rely on google translate, however, a majority of the words were verified by Google to be correct, which is a good start.

Settings Menu

Now that localisation has been added, I needed somewhere for you to set your language (and other settings), so why not create a settings menu! The menu is currently very small, with it only featuring sound on/off, and languages, I am thinking about letting the player select the colour of their sheep, but this is a nice to have feature.

Other

The smaller, non-important, additions to Rolly Sheep are vibrations when you hit an obstacle and our monetization strategy.

What's Next?

With the launch of open testing for Rolly Sheep, I will be monitoring feedback and making tweaks to gameplay, language correction, and anything else the community suggests.

Have had this for a while now,  good little time waster, runs smoothly with no issues so far. One thing I'd love to see is a change of scenery in the background after a certain amount of time. Maybe the change of environment can bring out some new specific obstacles (think city background, cars and people as addition to it), if they could move that might increase the difficulty and make it even more fun (to me at least !).

P.s: Tap to start in French just says "tap to"  / "appuyez pour",  it should be "appuyez pour commencer".  Also, the word used for score means goal or purpose, I would just change it to score, should work the same in French.

That's all I have to say, looking forward to seeing this game's growth.

Thank you for the great feedback!

I have made the French language changes, and have added the gameplay elements to my list to look into :)

I wanted to add another comment to say we've introduced 'zones' into Rolly Sheep following your suggestion! We now have mountain and desert zones which provide unique obstacles and a change in scenery :)
